Job Description

Your Role

Bring your curiosity to work as our next Trade Compliance Specialist. You will be part of our EMEA Trade Compliance team, reporting to the EMEA Trade Compliance Manager. In this role, your mission is to support effective trade compliance across our UK Vacuum Technique operations, helping ensure that import and export activities meet applicable customs, export control, sanctions and licensing requirements. You will contribute directly to protecting our ability to trade internationally while enabling the efficient movement of goods.

Your day-to-day

  • Maintain effective import and export compliance processes across our UK Vacuum Technique sites.
  • Review and resolve SAP GTS blocked orders, ensuring restricted transactions are appropriately assessed and authorised.
  • Manage export control and licensing requirements for controlled products, technologies and transactions.
  • Conduct sanctions screening and compliance assessments covering customers, transactions and business activities.
  • Develop and continuously improve trade compliance procedures, internal controls and supporting systems.
  • Monitor changes in trade compliance legislation and translate new requirements into practical process, system and control updates.

Your skills and experience

  • At least three years’ experience in international trade compliance, customs or export controls within a global manufacturing, technology or industrial environment.
  • Practical experience applying UK export control legislation, EU dual-use regulations, trade sanctions and related international trade requirements.
  • Experience managing export licensing processes, including the UK SPIRE/LITE  licensing system.
  • Experience classifying products and technologies using Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Export Control Classification Number methodologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining trade compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Relevant professional qualifications in trade compliance, customs or export controls.
  • A degree in international business, international trade, law, supply chain management or a related discipline would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of international supply chain operations and how trade compliance requirements apply across global business processes.
  • Experience with ERP and trade compliance systems, ideally SAP GTS.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for stakeholders.

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every single requirement. We value diverse experiences and perspectives and are excited to see what you bring to the role
