Job Description

Your role

You will be part of our testing team reporting to Test Manager. Your mission is to setup and complete performance testing of centrifugal pumps. You will contribute directly to how we create high‑quality products and solutions for our customers. 

 

CPC Pumps is looking for a talented professional to join our team to fill the exisiting role of Test Technician (Engineering).

 

Your day-to-day

•    Plan, schedule, and oversee setup of testing activities in coordination with production and engineering groups
•    Perform Testing of API 610 centrifugal pumps (overhung, vertical, and between bearing pumps).
•    Work closely with shop test employees to ensure proper setup and operation of the test stand
•    Troubleshoot testing problems and coordinate with hydraulics, production, and engineering teams to resolve any issues
•    Generate pump test curves for review and processing by the hydraulics manager

Your skills and experience

Qualification Requirements

 

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and sectional pump drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be safety and environmentally focused
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Proven self-starter with strong work ethic, high energy, and positive attitude

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or Mechanical Technologist Diploma
  • 1 to 5 years of experience with rotating equipment
  • Pump test and machinery vibration experience is an asset
  • Fluid mechanics is an asset
  • Auto CAD experience is an asset

 

 Physical Demands 

 

•    Ability to work in industrial environments including extremes in temperature with continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling
•    Comfortably able to perform repetitive motions using finger, wrist, and shoulders
•    Ability to remain standing for long periods of time   

 

Work Environment 

 

  • Ability to work in a high noise area
  • Ability to work around overhead cranes, forklifts, machines, and equipment
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and CSA-approved safety footwear, while working on the shop floor
  • Must be aware of and comply with all relevant safety policy and procedures

Our compensation offering is designed to be locally relevant, competitive, and aligned with the expectations of current and future talent.
 
The actual annual gross base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. The actual compensation package will be determined based on objective, gender-neutral criteria, including but not limited to the qualifications, experience, and skills demonstrated during the recruitment process. In addition to base salary, this position may include additional benefits and variable compensation elements, where applicable.
