Your role
The Business Development Manager (BDM) India is responsible for driving sustainable growth within the Environmental Segment by identifying and developing market opportunities, building strategic customer and partner relationships, and expanding sales of integrated solutions for anaerobic digestion, manure management, and municipal and industrial wastewater treatment applications. The role combines commercial leadership, market development, strategic account management, channel partner support, and aftermarket growth to help customers improve operational efficiency, resource recovery, renewable energy production, and environmental sustainability.
Acting as the primary commercial lead for the Environmental Segment in India, the BDM develops and executes growth strategies, identifies new business opportunities, manages key accounts, and strengthens the regional partner network. In close collaboration with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and service teams in Germany and Italy, the BDM ensures the delivery of high-quality, value-driven solutions that address customer needs and support long-term business success.
The role is responsible for promoting the complete Environmental Segment portfolio, including pumps, mixers, separation technologies, modules, hygienizing biocells, relevant accessories, and lifecycle service offerings.
Uniquely, this role will work closely with the Divisional Business Line Managers for Environmental, and the Sales Distribution Managers.
Your day-to-day
- Identify and develop optimal revenue models, sales/distribution channels, pricing, and new product development strategies.
- Negotiate strategic partnerships.
- Prioritize and track investments across new product development initiatives.
- Share best practices and collaborate with colleagues across different departments to drive business success.
- Carry out a detailed analysis of the market in which the company operates to identify avenues for development: new markets, customers, growth areas, new trends etc.
- Devising and planning the strategic guidelines and short, medium and long-term sales actions needed to achieve the objective (identifying priority targets, key contacts, contact actions, follow-ups, etc.) for each targeted market.
- Accountable of the Turnover and the margin in the segment.
- Define commercial opportunities and identify market needs in order to increase the number of new project requests.
- Provide technical support, product selection guidance, and pump sizing recommendations.
- Conduct site visits, system audits, and troubleshooting support as needed.
- Train distributors and representatives on products, applications, and value‑propositions.
- Support project execution teams to ensure customer expectations and scope requirements are.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and CRM updates.
- Provide regular feedback to leadership regarding opportunities, risks, and product needs.
Your skills and experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial) or equivalent technical experience.
- 5–8 years of outside sales experience in industrial pumps, fluid‑handling equipment, rotating machinery, or engineered capital equipment.
- Knowledge of the market and the application required to set up the right commercial strategy.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, pump sizing, and system design principles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region.
- Bilingual Indi/English required; German and Italian is a plus.

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our offices in either Pune, India or Wangen in Allgäu region, Germany or Correggio, Italy.
