Proposal / Design Engineer – Nuclear
The Proposal / Design Engineer – Nuclear supports the Systems + Solutions Americas team by developing technical solutions, preparing proposals, supporting sales activities, and managing projects from concept through startup and commissioning. This role is responsible for delivering nuclear-focused vacuum system designs while ensuring successful project execution, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals based on customer specifications and project requirements.
- Perform process, thermal, mechanical, and electrical equipment sizing and design.
- Develop cost estimates, pricing strategies, schedules, and bid documentation.
- Support sales teams by addressing customer technical and commercial inquiries.
- Participate in client meetings, contract negotiations, and proposal reviews.
- Collaborate with Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations, and QA/QC to execute awarded projects.
- Manage engineering deliverables, design reviews, safety reviews, and project closure activities.
- Create and review P&IDs, drawings, 3D models, bills of material, and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate manufacturing support, troubleshooting, commissioning, and field activities.
- Work with suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and project performance.
- Drive project results related to schedule, budget, and engineering efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To succeed, you will need
Education level
- University degree (Bachelor/Masters) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience.
Relevant Previous experience (minimum years of experience to competently carry out the role, not total year of experience)
- Results-oriented professional with experience in industrial vacuum.
- 1- 5 years experience with a preference in mechanical engineering, engineering management and vacuum technology.
- Experience working with EPC’s in both the quotation / proposal generation as well as project execution phases for complex systems involving multiple components such motors, drives, heat transfer technology, vessels, instrumentation, and controls is desired.
- Experience in project coordination or project management in relation to ownership and accountability of processes and team members.
- 3D modeling experience required and strong Pro-E/Creo and Inventor/Vault proficiency is desired.
- SAP experience strongly desired with working professional knowledge for applicable T-Code sessions and standard process flow.
- Ability to work with outside vendors for cost estimates and design optimization.
Knowledge areas/Skills (minimum level of knowledge to fulfill the role’s responsibilities)
- Strong technical competency in rotating equipment and various applications within the vacuum industry
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Knowledge in SAP advantageous
- Excellent command of English in both writing and speaking, other languages advantageous
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read electrical schematics and motor controls knowledge.
- Must have results driven nature.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Job location
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our location in Export, PA, United States (US).
