Job Description

Your role

As a Senior Embedded Test Engineer at Atlas Copco Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of embedded software across a range of advanced industrial products. Your responsibilities include comprehensive verification of embedded software through manual and automated testing, collaboration with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to refine requirements, and the development of Python-based automation to expand regression coverage and enhance testing efficiency.

You will be embedded within a multidisciplinary team responsible for cutting-edge products such as PLC controllers utilizing CODESYS and Straton, vacuum pump controllers, industrial communication modules, and EtherCAT-based devices. This role demands hands-on expertise in setting up and executing functional, integration, and system tests, managing test artifacts within tools such as Jira Xray, and advancing automated testing frameworks integrated with continuous integration pipelines like TeamCity and Jenkins.

Your day-to-day tasks will also include thorough analysis of test failures through logs and system behavior observations, defect tracking and retesting, and contributing to the continuous improvement of QA practices and automation tools. You will provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers, influencing quality standards and methodologies across projects.

Technical and Product Environment

You will work with embedded operating systems, network stacks, industrial communication protocols (such as Modbus, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, CANopen), hardware interfaces, and automated test systems. This environment balances both legacy and modern technologies, providing a stimulating setting for innovation and technical growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners and developers during sprint planning to ensure test coverage aligns with acceptance criteria.
  • Create, maintain, and execute detailed test plans and cases, both manual and automated, ensuring traceability to requirements.
  • Develop and enhance Python-based automation frameworks and scripts to increase regression test efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform embedded system testing on physical hardware and hardware simulators, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Analyze, document, and report identified defects, facilitating resolution through close cooperation with the development team.
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration workflows to provide rapid feedback on software quality.
  • Provide technical leadership in QA best practices, contributing to process improvements, and coaching junior QA engineers.
  • Maintain detailed test documentation and contribute to project documentation to support compliance and audit requirements.

To succeed, you will need

  • Minimum five years of experience in software testing, with proven expertise in embedded systems and Python automation.
  • Strong capability in defining and executing functional, integration, and regression test suites based on user requirements.
  • Experience with test management tools such as Jira Xray, defect tracking, and continuous integration systems like TeamCity or Jenkins.
  • Ability to independently lead QA activities, prioritize tasks effectively, and provide technical mentorship.
  • Familiarity with embedded hardware, communication protocols, and debugging methodologies.

In return, we offer

  • Join a prestigious global industrial leader with a legacy spanning over 150 years, committed to innovation and excellence.
  • Empower your professional growth through a culture that encourages autonomy in research and development initiatives.
  • Engage in challenging projects developing next-generation embedded systems using advanced technology.
  • Experience global exposure and career development opportunities through Atlas Copco's extensive internal mobility network.
  • Benefit from a workplace culture that emphasizes mutual care, sustainability, and social responsibility.
  • Enjoy a competitive total rewards program, including comprehensive insurance coverage, educational support, and flexible working arrangements to promote work-life balance.
