Your role
Technology, shipping and adventure all in one role!
Bring your curiosity to work as our next Field Service Engineer Marine at Atlas Copco!
Are you an independent technician who enjoys responsibility, technical challenges and working in unique locations? As a Field Service Engineer Marine, you will be one of our technical experts on board vessels and at our marine customers' sites. You will ensure that our air and gas systems continue to perform at their best by carrying out maintenance, troubleshooting, performing inspections and commissioning installations.
No two days are the same. One day you might be working on board a vessel in Rotterdam, and the next week you could be travelling to a European port for a service job, inspection or commissioning. Occasionally, your work may also take you offshore or require you to sail with a vessel to carry out work while at sea.
Within Atlas Copco Marine, you will work with a wide variety of technical installations, ranging from compact systems to large starting air compressors, nitrogen systems, dryers and blowers. Our equipment can be found on cruise ships, container ships, tankers, bulk carriers, tugboats and offshore installations.
Your day-to-day
As a Field Service Engineer Marine, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising technical installations on board vessels. You will work independently, maintain direct contact with customers and contribute to the reliability of their equipment.
Your main responsibilities include:
-
Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on air and gas systems.
-
Analysing and resolving mechanical, electrical and control system faults.
-
Carrying out technical inspections and condition assessments.
-
Commissioning, optimising and fine-tuning new and existing installations.
-
Providing technical support and advice to customers and vessel crews.
-
Performing service activities in European ports, offshore and, when required, during voyages.
You look beyond simply resolving today's technical issues. During your work, you assess the technical condition of installations and advise customers on maintenance, reliability and ways to prevent unplanned downtime.
Your skills and experience
Are you a technically skilled professional who enjoys working independently, embraces challenges and gets satisfaction from solving technical problems? Then we would love to hear from you!
What do you bring to the role?
-
A completed vocational (MBO) or higher professional (HBO) qualification, preferably in Maritime Operations, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable technical field.
-
An interest in compressor technology, pneumatics, electrical engineering and control systems.
-
The ability to independently analyse and resolve technical problems.
-
A customer-focused and hands-on mindset. You are eager to learn, communicate effectively and think in solutions.
-
Good command of both Dutch and English.
-
Willingness to travel internationally and occasionally work offshore or on board vessels during voyages.
-
A strong awareness of workplace safety.
-
A valid VCA Basic or VCA VOL safety certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
-
An interest in computers, software and control systems is considered an advantage.
You do not need to know everything from day one. With your technical background, curiosity and motivation to develop, Atlas Copco offers you the opportunity to further grow your expertise within the marine industry.
Your compensation and benefits
At Atlas Copco, we believe it is important that you are rewarded fairly and appropriately based on your role, responsibilities, experience and skills.
In addition, we offer:
-
27 days of annual leave and 6.5 additional working time reduction (ADV) days.
-
Time off in lieu for weekend work.
-
A company service van, laptop and mobile phone.
-
A competitive expense reimbursement scheme and international travel allowance.
-
Technical training and plenty of opportunities for professional development.
-
An open and informal working environment with a high level of independence and responsibility.
Beyond compensation, we believe that a rewarding career is about opportunities to learn, grow and make an impact. At Atlas Copco, you will have the freedom to deepen your technical expertise and develop your career within an international organisation built on trust, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Your job location
You will be based in the Rotterdam region, primarily supporting marine customers and vessels in the Netherlands and Belgium, with a strong focus on the ARA region (Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp).
As our customers operate internationally, travelling to other European ports will also be part of your role. Depending on the assignment, you may work on board vessels, in ports, offshore or during voyages.
This variety makes your role dynamic and ensures that no two working days are the same.
