Are you ready to make a significant impact on a strategic sourcing initiative? As a Strategic Buyer & Supplier Development within the Mexico Sourcing Team (MEXSO), you will be responsible for managing assigned commodities and driving supplier development activities across Mexico. Our mission is to identify, qualify, and develop competitive suppliers that support our U.S. Product Companies in maintaining and strengthening their market competitiveness.

In this role, you will play a key part in building strong partnerships between suppliers, engineering teams, and global sourcing organizations. By fostering effective collaboration across stakeholders, you will help drive cost competitiveness, supply chain resilience, quality improvement, and sustainable growth.

Your day-to-day

As a Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, evaluating, and developing new suppliers throughout Mexico.
  • Leading sourcing projects focused on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain optimization.
  • Conducting supplier negotiations and supporting contract management activities.
  • Driving supplier performance through regular follow-up on quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability metrics.
  • Collaborating closely with Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Procurement teams globally.
  • Monitoring market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers to identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Supporting supplier audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Developing and implementing sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.

In this role, you will report directly to the Mexico Sourcing Manager.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a proactive attitude and a strong drive to achieve results with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, and Word.
  • Experience or solid knowledge of purchasing and sourcing processes within a technical or manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach.
  • Willingness to travel within Mexico up to 30% of the time, with occasional travel to the United States.

Your location

This role offer a hybrid role arrangement based on Monterrey. Hybrid means 2 days at Home Office and 3 days on-site.
