Position Summary
Atlas Copco GECIA is seeking an experienced Technical Leader to strengthen Electrical, Instrumentation and Digital Engineering capabilities. The position will provide technical leadership for complex customer projects, engineering governance, competence development, standardization, digitalization and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on engineering experience, sound technical judgment and the ability to develop skills in the people, build organizational competence and collaborate effectively with global stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead the design and validation of instrumentation systems, field devices, PLC/SCADA interfaces, control narratives, cause-and-effect matrices and alarm management systems.
•Provide technical guidance for electrical systems, including switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, motor controls, VFDs, power distribution, protection, cable engineering and industrial control systems.
•Conduct design reviews, technical audits, risk assessments, FAT/SAT reviews and engineering quality assurance.
•Establish and maintain engineering standards, design practices, technical guidelines, checklists and reusable engineering solutions.
•Drive standardization, design automation, digital engineering and engineering process optimization.
•Provide technical support for complex customer requirements, critical projects and engineering problem-solving.
•Develop engineering competencies through structured training, coaching, mentoring, knowledge-sharing sessions and competency assessments.
•Identify competency gaps and establish development roadmaps for engineers and technical specialists.
•Build subject-matter expertise and succession capability within the Electrical and Instrumentation team.
•Support collaboration with universities, technology partners and global engineering teams.
•Promote responsible use of AI-enabled engineering tools for analytics, document processing, design automation, engineering calculations and knowledge management.
•Lead productivity, quality and continuous-improvement initiatives across the engineering lifecycle.
Technical Competencies
•Instrument selection, sizing and specification
•P&ID development and review
•Control valves, transmitters, analyzers and field instrumentation
•SIL concepts and hazardous-area engineering
•PLC, DCS and SCADA integration
•Industrial communication protocols, including Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus and Profinet
•Switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, VFDs and motor control systems
•Power distribution, cable engineering, earthing, lighting and protection systems
•Control-system architecture and industrial automation
•Engineering design verification, validation and technical risk management
•Working knowledge of applicable international engineering standards and industry practices
Added advantages: Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.

•Define and maintain technical competency frameworks for Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
•Assess team competencies and identify skill gaps against current and future business requirements.
•Develop structured technical learning paths, mentoring programs and knowledge-sharing mechanisms.
•Support engineers in building domain expertise, multidisciplinary capability and customer-facing technical competence.
•Encourage technical certification, continuous learning and application of acquired knowledge in projects.
•Develop technical experts and future leaders through coaching, delegation and structured development plans.
•Build a strong engineering knowledge repository covering standards, lessons learned, best practices and reusable solutions.
To succeed, you will need
Education and Experience
•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Control Systems or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering.
•12+ years of relevant experience in engineering design, product engineering, EPC, industrial automation, packaged equipment or related industries.
•Demonstrated experience in technical leadership, multidisciplinary engineering reviews and competence development.
•Experience in handling complex customer requirements and collaborating with global engineering stakeholders.
