Your role

In addition to the standard testing activities, as a Technology Engineer within the APX Laboratories,  you will be responsible for the development and implementation of MBE-CAT (future generation test cells) based on an advanced test cell environment. You will develop and innovate on new testing processes and procedures that enable more efficient testing (faster, more energy-efficient, etc.) through the use of tools such as MATLAB and Simulink. In this role, you will support and train fellow test and validation engineers in implementing new developments within the basic test cells. Close collaboration with Airtec regarding the development of the (new) CAT in combination with MBE-CAT is therefore a key responsibility within this position. Furthermore, you will develop into a subject matter expert in laboratory equipment and measurement instrumentation, serving as the main point of contact for all matters related to test cell infrastructure.

Within our department, you are responsible for:

• Reporting to the Team Coach of the AII Laboratory.
• Independently developing software and hardware solutions.
• Building and maintaining relevant technical competencies.
• Identifying and proposing improvements to products and/or processes.
• Ensuring knowledge retention and sharing within your area of expertise.
• Managing and developing the competencies of test and validation engineers.
• Promoting and maintaining safety within the test cells.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

• Actively contributing to the development of new concepts and the optimization of existing concepts, covering both products and processes.
• Developing project plans together with the test engineer.
• Planning and coordinating the activities of external resources and contractors.
• Providing technical support in resolving project-related issues and challenges.
• Supporting the project team in the development of business cases.
• Translating concepts into (partial) technical specifications.
• Ensuring the smooth implementation of MBE-CAT within the basic test cells.
• Training and coaching test and validation engineers on new technologies, processes, and methodologies.
• Proposing and driving improvements that enhance safety within the test cell environment.

• You hold a Master's degree in Engineering (Civil or Industrial Engineering), with a specialization in Electronics, Electromechanics, or an equivalent qualification gained through relevant experience.
• You have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a product development environment within the machinery manufacturing industry.
• Affinity with compressors or related industrial equipment.
• Affinity with and/or experience in software development using functional block programming.
• Good knowledge of standard IT tools, including Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes.
• Good command of the English language.

Job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Atlas Copco airpower site in Wilrijk; Antwerp, Belgium (BE).
