Job Description

Your role

As a working student, you will support our Purchase and Project Administration team in its day-to-day work and ongoing projects. You will help keep track of orders and delivery dates and contribute to simplifying processes through data, automation and AI. This will give you the opportunity to apply what you have learned during your studies and gain practical experience.

Your day-to-day

  • You will follow up on delivery dates with our suppliers, check order confirmations and inform the team of any potential delays
  • You will help process purchase orders and purchase requisitions, obtain and compare quotations, and prepare invoice discrepancies for clarification
  • You will maintain purchasing and project data and prepare overviews of outstanding orders, delivery dates and current delivery status
  • You will document existing purchasing processes and work with the team to identify recurring tasks that can be simplified and automated
  • You will support the creation of reports and dashboards in Power BI and the implementation of simple workflows using Power Automate
  • You will help put Microsoft Copilot and other AI applications to practical use in purchasing and document the solutions developed

Your skills and experience

  • Currently enrolled in a degree programme, for example in industrial engineering, business administration, supply chain management, logistics, business information systems or a comparable field
  • Very good Excel skills and an interest in analysing data and presenting it clearly
  • Basic knowledge of Power BI or Power Automate
  • An interest in purchasing and supply chains, as well as digital tools, AI and automation that can make day-to-day work easier
  • A thorough and structured approach to work, with the ability to proactively follow up on outstanding matters and clarify questions independently
  • Good English skills for communicating with international suppliers; additional language skills are welcome but not required

We welcome your application, even if you do not meet every single requirement. We value different experiences and perspectives and look forward to discovering what you can bring to the role.

Your compensation and benefits

  • Work-life balance. Enjoy flexible working hours, 30 days of annual leave and special leave for important occasions, giving you time to recharge and spend time with your loved ones
  • Opportunities. Your professional and personal development matters to us. That is why we offer access to our own academy, free access to all LinkedIn Learning courses and, as a growing and innovative global market leader, international career opportunities
  • Community. Sharing experience and supporting one another are integral to our company culture. Thorough onboarding, flat organisational structures and short decision-making paths are a given. You will quickly feel part of the team and find the support you need
  • Wellbeing. Your health is important to us. We offer a workplace health programme with a wide range of services, as well as an employee assistance programme to support you and your family when needed
  • Room to make an impact. You will take ownership of varied tasks in a forward-looking environment equipped with state-of-the-art communication tools and designed to foster innovation. Your ideas and contributions are welcome
  • Sustainability. We place great importance on environmental and social responsibility and on improving quality of life. We welcome your commitment to these topics
  • Modern technology. A laptop that you can also use privately
  • Benefits. Free parking, hot drinks, fresh fruit, a canteen subsidy and access to the Corporate Benefits programme are all part of the package

Your location and working hours

You will join our Purchase and Project Administration team in Essen and have the option to work remotely for part of your working hours. During the semester, you will work a maximum of 20 hours per week. You can arrange your working hours flexibly from Monday to Friday within our flexitime framework.

Why it is great to work with us

You are part of a production team that takes pride in doing things right the first time. You work with high‑quality tools and processes and learn from experienced colleagues. We focus on safety, quality, and teamwork, and we recognize and appreciate good work. You receive on‑the‑job training and have clear steps for career growth. There are opportunities to learn new tasks, tools, and technologies, and you are part of a team where your contribution matters every day. We offer stable working conditions, a healthy work‑life balance, and leaders who act fairly and support your development.

Application process

Our selection process includes two interviews, allowing us to gain a more comprehensive understanding of your profile. We look forward to getting to know you, learning more about your strengths and discussing how you can develop with us.
